SFpark‘s state-of-the-art meters are easy to use and allow drivers to pay with coins, credit/debit cards, and SFMTA parking cards. In late 2010, the SFMTA replaced existing parking meters with these new coin and card meters throughout the SFpark pilot areas.
Extended time limits
Adding to this convenience, the time limits on many meters were also extended. By boosting the amount of time drivers are allowed to stay in one space, SFpark is reducing unnecessary re-parking and the need to issue parking tickets.
Wireless communications
SFpark meters, like the sensors, will communicate wirelessly with the SFpark data warehouse. When pricing changes, new rate information will be sent wirelessly to the meters so they remain up-to-date.
